The Luanco marañuelas competition is preparing once again to delight the residents of Gozón and all those who visit during this special time of year. Now in its 36th year, it is one of the most deeply rooted events in the municipality, always closely linked to Holy Week.
This year, the festival takes place between April 2nd and 5th on Pérez de Ayala Street. In the town of Gozón, preparations have been underway for several weeks for the arduous task of making one of the region's most popular sweets.
Only marañuelas and buns may be sold at designated stalls; the sale of any other products is strictly prohibited. Both types must be sold only in bags of six (6 units) and in bags of twelve (12 units).
