The haunted house competition, one of the main attractions of this celebration, could not be missed. Many neighbours will decorate their facades and not only that: they will also put on the most chilling performance with costumed characters. The aim is to win the first prize of the competition, which will be announced on 1 November. Halloween at the Botanical Garden, Gijón

    · Friday, November 1st
Samhain at the Botanical Garden: pumpkins and skulls

1/ We decorate the bread basket
    from 11:00h 14:00h
The granaries and paneras were traditionally used to store the harvests, protected from humidity and mice, and it was common to leave corn, onions and garlic strands to dry around the panera. Today we ask you to lend us a hand so that, guided by Pilar Vega, from Desfaciendo Maíz, we can decorate our panera while we learn to make the riestras and share some popcorn. Family (>6 years)

2/You get your bearings with fear!
    from 16:30h 18:00h
This afternoon the Garden is filled with strange creatures and only someone very brave would dare to walk its paths, so you better come in company.
We will suggest a route that you will have to follow, visiting all the points on the map in order. Do you like to cheat? We already told you that it is useless to follow the others because each group will have a different route. And be very careful with the magical creatures that live in the garden and that only show themselves on special days like today, because they are mischievous and would love to see you get lost. Family-friendly.

3/ Magüestu, sweet cider and traditional music
    From 18:00 p.m. to 20:30 p.m.
After a day full of activities, it's time to replenish our energy, and what better way to do it than with a magüestu where we'll share chestnuts or popcorn and sweet cider. But the spirits of Samhain don't live on chestnuts and cider alone: we'll celebrate it with games, music, traditional dances and a few other surprises. Family-friendly.

    Amagüestu in Benéfica, Piloña

This time, as a novelty, we decided not to focus only on the amagüestu as folixa and give a protagonism in the sense of going to the mountains to buy chestnuts to hang out later on all the gatherings on November 1th.

    01.11.24, starting at 12.00 p.m.
    Amagüestu in Espinaréu
We will play sweet cider, eat chestnuts, have a band to dance and tell stories for the little ones. Bingo, raffle, traditional games...
    Free admission.

Organized by: Les Ablanes Cultural Association and the Piloña Charity Association.
