    Xixón Scene: Theater and Dance Program

    Date: from March 19 to April 29 of 2025.
    Location: various spaces in Gijón.
    Description: The Escena Xixón program will fill Gijón with theater and dance in March and April, encompassing both traditional and open-air venues, including "Elogio del Horizonte," "Mother of the Emigrant," and the sculpture "Sombras de Luz." The program includes thirty performances mostly by Asturian companies, five workshops, and several activities commemorating the international days of theater and dance. Director Jimena Rodríguez highlighted the quality and decentralization of the proposals, which will also be taken to municipal centers and museums, with the option of moving them to Jovellanos' Birthplace in case of bad weather. The program begins on March 19 with "Hamlet" and will conclude in March with "Querida Génica." On April 23, "Mujeres invisibles" will be presented, and the Conservatory will offer an "Afternoon of Dance" on April 29. The program is complemented by various workshops and artistic laboratories.

    This exhibition presents 13 recent works by Asturian and international artists that imagine other possible relationships between humans, technology and nature. The exhibition includes the winning piece of the S+T+ARTS Award for Innovation in Science and Technology promoted by the arts of the European Commission.

    Impossible rainbow. An exercise in celestial landscaping
    Date: From December 5, 2024 to May 03, XNUMX 2025
    Location: Labor Art Center.
    A poetic and critical proposal that fuses art and science. This installation by Lukas Truniger and Bruce Yoder presents a series of synthetic rainbows that move and transform slowly in space, thanks to focused light and specialized optics. The work reflects on the human desire to control nature and addresses issues such as climate engineering and climate change, inviting us to imagine what these phenomena would be like in a future altered by global warming.

    Through the creation of two portfolios comprised of a total of eighty-six printmakers of seventeen different nationalities, they call on states, their institutions, and their leaders to stop considering war as the only option for resolving any armed conflict on the planet. Their desire is to become the spokespersons for the international outcry of the vast majority of citizens around the world who prefer dialogue and peace as solutions to conflicts.

    An installation created by the art collective SMACK, formed by Ton Meijdan, Thom Snels, and Béla Zsigmond. SMACK's work confronts us with a universe as fascinating as it is disturbing, where technology and society intertwine in a relentless portrait of our time. The project reinterprets the iconic painting The Garden of Earthly Delights (1490-1500) by Jheronimus van Aken, known as Bosch, currently housed at the Prado Museum. The work introduces figures from contemporary society, maintaining the critical essence of dystopian scenarios.
