Disarmament is a culinary celebration whose origins are the Carlist wars. There are several versions of its origin. The most widespread says that in 1856 one of the sides, on the outskirts of the city, was enjoying an abundant meal of chickpeas with cod and spinach, and in this carelessness the enemy took the opportunity to steal their weapons. Is one of the oldest gastronomic celebrations in Spain.

A trip to the gastronomic, cultural, and historical festivals of DESARME. Designated for its close ties to Asturias and for an artistic career deeply connected to the traditional music of northern Spain, which is, on a cultural level, the perfect example of what DESARME represents in the culinary world: roots, identity, and shared tradition.
After the proclamation, a rifle volley will be fired by reenactors from the Isabelline Army, accompanied by the Royal Pipe Band "City of Oviedo."

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18
1st MUSIC BAND FESTIVAL · DISARMAMENT "PEACE FESTIVAL"
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: PARADE AND PERFORMANCE BY BANDS, in which different bands will participate, departing from different points in the city, traveling through several streets of Oviedo, until they all end up in the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral).
11:00 a.m.: In the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral), gathering of members of the Brotherhood of Disarmament and reenactors dressed in period costumes, for a subsequent parade with the musical group "San Salvador", from the Brotherhood of Students of Oviedo, to the Plaza de la Constitución.
11:30 a.m.: In the Plaza de la Constitución, a floral offering will be laid at the Church of San Isidoro el Real in front of the remains of combatants from the 1836 clashes. After the offering, a military salute will be made and the Peace Festival will be celebrated, in which reenactors from the Isabelline Troops will participate, along with the population dressed in period costumes and members of the Disarmament Brotherhood, followed by a parade with the CITY OF OVIEDO MUSIC BAND to the Plaza Alfonso II (Cathedral).
Starting at 12:00 p.m., the participating bands will arrive at the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral), and each group will perform a 15-minute set. Finally, all the bands will perform the Anthem of Asturias (a version by Antolín de la Fuente), conducted by David Colado Coronas, director of the CIUDAD DE OVIEDO Music Band.
