A gastronomic festival whose menu consists of chickpeas with spinach and cod, tripe Oviedo-style, and rice pudding for dessert. This year, 2025, it takes place from October 17th to 26th . Since September 2025, the Desarme festival has been officially declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
Over the weekend, historical reenactments of the battles that gave rise to the Disarmament will return to various points in the capital, with more than 150 actors participating and reproducing the war episodes.
- It will be held on fourth period costume competition to encourage citizen participation, with the aim of Oviedo "dressing up in the XNUMXth century".
Registration is now open for the 4th Annual 19th Century Period Costume Contest, which will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Paseo del Bombé at Campo San Francisco. You can register in each of the existing categories. To do so, please fill out a form for each category.
The Disarmament Festival is a culinary celebration whose origins lie in the Carlist Wars. There are several versions of its origin. The most widespread tells of how, in 1856, one of the factions, on the outskirts of the city, was enjoying a hearty meal of chickpeas with cod and spinach, and in their moment of inattention, the enemy took advantage of the situation to steal their weapons. It is one of the oldest gastronomic celebrations in Spain.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17

A trip to the gastronomic, cultural, and historical festivals of DESARME. Designated for its close ties to Asturias and for an artistic career deeply connected to the traditional music of northern Spain, which is, on a cultural level, the perfect example of what DESARME represents in the culinary world: roots, identity, and shared tradition.
After the proclamation, a rifle volley will be fired by reenactors from the Isabelline Army, accompanied by the Royal Pipe Band "City of Oviedo."
20:30 p.m.: Attendees dressed in period costumes and reenactors will be offered Spanish wine in Trascorrales Square.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18
1st MUSIC BAND FESTIVAL · DISARMAMENT "PEACE FESTIVAL"
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: PARADE AND PERFORMANCE BY BANDS, in which different bands will participate, departing from different points in the city, traveling through several streets of Oviedo, until they all end up in the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral).
11:00 a.m.: In the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral), gathering of members of the Brotherhood of Disarmament and reenactors dressed in period costumes, for a subsequent parade with the musical group "San Salvador", from the Brotherhood of Students of Oviedo, to the Plaza de la Constitución.
11:30 a.m.: In the Plaza de la Constitución, a floral offering will be laid at the Church of San Isidoro el Real in front of the remains of combatants from the 1836 clashes. After the offering, a military salute will be made and the Peace Festival will be celebrated, in which reenactors from the Isabelline Troops will participate, along with the population dressed in period costumes and members of the Disarmament Brotherhood, followed by a parade with the CITY OF OVIEDO MUSIC BAND to the Plaza Alfonso II (Cathedral).
Starting at 12:00 p.m., the participating bands will arrive at the Plaza de Alfonso II (Cathedral), and each group will perform a 15-minute set. Finally, all the bands will perform the Anthem of Asturias (a version by Antolín de la Fuente), conducted by David Colado Coronas, director of the CIUDAD DE OVIEDO Music Band.
17:30 p.m.: PERIOD COSTUME COMPETITION at the Paseo del Bombé in Campo San Francisco.
19:30 p.m.: AWARD CEREMONY.
20:00 p.m.: Parade through the streets of Oviedo to the Plaza de la Constitución along with reenactors from the Isabelline Troops.
20:30 p.m.: From the City Hall balcony, PROCLAMATION OF DISARMAMENT with the reading of the winning work of the IV INTERNATIONAL POETRY COMPETITION "DESARMAMENT IN VERSE", ending with the performance of the DISARMAMENT ANTHEMS.

11:30 a.m.: The members of the BROTHERHOOD OF DISARMAMENT, led by the Senior Brother, will present, in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall, to Mr. Alfredo Canteli Fernández, Mayor of the City Council of Oviedo, the WRITTEN-DECLARATION of DISARMAMENT as a "FESTIVAL OF NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST."
12:00 p.m.: POPULAR GATHERING in the PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN (TOWN HALL), where bottles of cider will be distributed (one per attendee) with the corresponding Disarmament glass, to toast the DISARMAMENT FESTIVAL and its declaration as a FESTIVAL OF NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST.
12:30 p.m.: CONCERT by NANDO AGÜEROS at the FILARMÓNICA THEATRE. The Cantabrian artist, herald of DISARMAMENT 2025, will perform his concert "SONGS"

10:30 a.m.: BROTHERHOOD PARADE from Plaza del Fontán, and in an orderly manner, to the PHILHARMONIC THEATRE, in Oviedo, to participate in the solemn act of the XIII GREAT CHAPTER.
