History of Onís

To talk about the first inhabitants of the area we have to go back to the Neolithic, when after the last glaciations, the inhabitants of the coast are dominating the heights of the Picos de Europa. The Legions of Rome passed through here, the inhabitants will later face the power of the Emir of Córdoba... what characterizes the inhabitants of these lands is respect for the environment, the human group of the Pastors of the Picos de Europa has received the Award for Exemplary Town of Asturias.
