The Naranjo de Bulnes, or Picu Urriellu as the locals call it, has an altitude of 2.519 meters and one of the emblematic peaks of Spanish mountaineering, especially for the 550 meters of vertical wall of its West Face. Its south face is the easiest, there is about 150 meters of climbing available to almost everyone.
From all these places you can see, very dark, well covered with snow, well with clouds, well orange; and it is so peculiar, and it has such a personality, that even covered by the fog its silhouette is outlined on the other side and it is recognized.
What is the best place to see the Naranjo de Bulnes?
It is difficult to decide on a single location, but we recommend you enjoy the views offered by these that we mention and we would highlight that of Póo de Cabrales.
They are locations that are easily reached.
Well of Prayer Viewpoint
In the cabraliega town of Póo we can contemplate an unmatched vision. We drive along the AS-14 to this small town, where there is a large car park destined to contemplate the silhouette of Picu Urriellu.

Pedro Udaondo viewpoint
Perhaps another of its best viewpoints is in the cabraliega village of Asiegu, which from the Sierra de Cuera is an ideal observatory of the Picos de Europa. In Asiegu we discovered, at the end of the afternoon, that the Urriellu had orange and pink tones.

Pimiango viewpoint
It offers us a more distant view of the Naranjo. Located halfway to the El Pindal Cave, the viewpoint is strategically located on the coastal plateau of Pimiango, offering a privileged view of the Sierra del Cuera and the Picos de Europa, with a clear glimpse of Picu Urriellu on clear days. It is completely accessible by road and has a recreational area.

Camarmeña viewpoint
A steep and winding mountain road takes us to Camarmeña from Poncebos. The village is inhabited by only a dozen inhabitants and has a viewpoint, built by veteran mountaineers, which offers splendid sunsets over the faces of Picu Urriellu. Due to its characteristics there are few vehicles that can park in the town, so in high season many visitors arrive on foot.

Pandébano viewpoint
From the Pandébano hill there is a path that leads to the Terenosa refuge and continuing that road we arrive at a spectacular viewpoint of Naranjo de Bulnes. The Pandébano hill can be reached by car, although we do not recommend it since the road is not in good condition (we left the car near the Invernales del Texu).
