The Raíces Organic and Artisan Market is held in the courtyard of the Monastery of Santa María de la Merced in Raíces Viejo, Castrillón. The events for 2026 will take place the third Saturday of each month, from May to October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.
Each edition will bring together 12 sales stalls dedicated to crafts and agri-food productionThis is a unique market in Asturias due to its regular schedule and its exclusive focus on organic food. The initiative has the support of the Castrillón Town Council, which provides the space and collaborates on the logistical organization of each event.
One of the new features this season will be the participation of the Council for Organic Agricultural Production of the Principality of Asturias (COPAE) as a direct collaborator. Their presence will be represented by an institutional stand that will host a different organic producer each time, with the aim of increasing the sector's visibility and showcasing the variety of Asturian organic products to the public. The market will also include educational activities organized by COPAE between 12:00 and 13:00.
The program will include Practical workshops on furniture restoration, crafts, recycling, fresh pasta making, seedbed creation and shiitake mushroom cultivation on logs.
In addition, to encourage local purchases, at the end of each day a selection of organic products will be raffled among customers, who can participate using the tickets given with each purchase.
