Organic farming emerged in Europe many years ago as an alternative to an increasingly intensive agriculture dependent on agrochemicals. In 1996 the Council of Ecological Agrarian Production of the Principality of Asturias was created COPAE as the body in charge of carrying out the official control of organic production and keeping the register of operators.
New edition of the Agri-Food Fair of Organic Products of Asturias (FAPEA) on August 11, 12 and 13, 2023, has a program of activities in which there are workshops, showcookings, tastings and much more. As is customary, COPAE is the main collaborator of the fair together with the organization of the Llanera City Council.
The new edition of the fair is held in the context of great growth in the Asturian organic sector, with more than 100 new registrants in COPAE and an increase of almost 50% in certified area so far this year.
