It has started the fifteenth edition Contest 'The Best Fabada in the World 2025' with some restaurants from outside the Principality of Asturias.
This year, as a novelty, Asturian restaurants and those from outside the Principality will compete together from the preliminary phase: the jury will simultaneously visit all the establishments in the country (including those in Asturias) and there will be no reserved places in the final for those from outside Asturias: as many as their score allows will go through.
The grand final will be held on April 2 in Villaviciosa (Asturias).
The following local producers will participate in the final: Sidrería Bedriñana (Villaviciosa), Casa Eladia (Villaviciosa), Casa La Nicia (Oviedo), Casa Menéndez (Águilas, Murcia), Casa Morán (Aller), Casa Pedro Parres (Parres), Casa Repinaldo (Candás), El Hostel & Co (Santander, Cantabria), El Patio (Yeles, Toledo), El Rincón de Adi (Oviedo) and El Torneiro (Villayón).
The list is completed by La Botica (Lastres), La Consistorial (Mieres), La Gitana (Gijón), La Llosa (Villaviciosa), La Taberna Asturiana Zapico (Toledo), La Teya (Pola de Siero), La Tonada (Madrid), Covadonga Picnic Area (Covadonga), Michem (Llanera), Prida Cider House (Nava) and Román Cider House (Gijón).
Jury ruling
The World's Best Fabada 2025 is made by Casa Morán, from Collanzo (Aller), using beans from Casa Gómez (Tineo) and local compango. This was determined by the jury of the competition, which has been held in Villaviciosa for the past fifteen years.
