The church was conceived in the last quarter of the XNUMXth century as an Asturian pre-Romanesque style templeAlthough it has undergone several important reforms in later times, so the characteristic style is hidden under a portico and a new apse, a belfry and more elements added later.
It is mentioned for the first time in a donation made by the King Ordoño II to the church of Oviedo on August 8, 921, of which there is a copy inscribed in the Book of Testaments of the Cathedral of Oviedo.

This temple it was radically reformed in 1853When a portico and a new apse were built larger than the existing one, the original tripartite portico was destroyed.
You have basilica plant, two narrow lateral naves covered with wooden armor and a somewhat wider central one, separated from those by four semicircular brick arches on square pillars with impost capitals and two Corinthian columns at both ends. These are organized in four sections. Three vaulted chapels, communicated with the naves by means of a semicircular arch, form the straight head.
