From May 15 to 24, 2026, the 18th edition of the most important championship in Spain will be held: the Gijón Pinchos and Tapas Championship®.
The judging criteria will include flavor, presentation, originality, and commercial viability for each pintxo , with the winning entry being the one that receives the highest overall score. The prizes awarded are called "Golden Staircase," "Beach," and "Bronze." There are also several other awards such as "Best Pairing," "R&D Pintxo," "Classic Pintxo," and "Asturian Pintxo."
As in previous years, a Gastromap showing the location of participating establishments will be published . This will serve as a reference for the general public to find the participating establishments, their tasting hours, and their offerings; thus making it easier for the public to sample the participating dishes on the established days and at the indicated times.
Customers can rate each pintxo/tapa from 1 to 10 and leave comments. Each customer can only vote once per entry. If a customer visits a restaurant more than once, or re-enters a previously used code, the system will detect this and prevent them from submitting a second rating.
The recommended price for the pintxo/tapa + sponsor drink promotion is €4,9. Similarly, the recommended price for an individual pintxo/tapa is €2,5-€2,9.
