La XXVIII edition of the Esfoyón and Amagosto Festival invites us to revive a tradition that is intended to be transmitted to younger generations. It is Regional Tourist Interest and this 2024 is celebrated November 9th.
The esfoyón, a practice that dates back centuries, was essential for the survival of Asturian families. During the autumn months, neighbours would gather to husk the corn, an arduous but necessary task to ensure sustenance during the winter.
Beyond its practical function, the esphoyon was a social event of great importance. It was an occasion to strengthen community ties, share stories and legends, and celebrate the abundance of the harvest..
At the Navelgas House of Culture, starting at 18.00 hours, the intergenerational meeting of the Esfoyón day "Amagostando historias" will take place.
This is a meeting to share life experiences, to spend a pleasant time around tradition, customs, life experiences... With the participation of the writers Tito Casado and Inés Gómez who will act as a link between what the participants tell and the stories told in their books "Semos asina" and "Cómo semos".
Starting at 19.30 hoursIn the Navelgas de Arriba neighborhood there will be: tastings, crafts, children's activities, stalls, music and dancing, a market and a demonstration of herding with dogs.
