Can you go up to the Lakes of Covadonga by car?
The Ministry of Development, Local Cooperation and Fire Prevention will launch the pilot project of the new transportation plan to the lakes of Covadonga 2024.
The first dates of the plan are: from March 23 to Sunday, March 31, throughout Holy Week.
Bus access dates
- March (Holy Week): from Saturday the 23rd to Sunday the 31st
- April: weekends (S and Sunday): 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 and 27-28
- May Long Weekend: April 29 and 30, May 1, 2 and 3
- May: weekends (S and Sunday): 4-5, 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26
- Summer: From Saturday, June 1 to Sunday, October 13 (except Thursday, July 25 and Sunday, September 8)
- October: rest of the weekends (S and Sunday): 19-20 and 26-27
- November long weekend: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1, 2 and 3
- December long weekend: from Saturday, November 30 to Monday, December 9
Buying tickets for the bus
Users must purchase round-trip tickets before boarding the bus, either through electronic purchase, at the ticket office or at authorized sales points or travel agencies.

Where do the buses to the Covadonga Lakes leave from?
The departure of the buses to the Lakes will take place from three points, with stops in El Repelao and Covadonga:
- Cangas de Onís bus station, open every day of operation
- El Bosque Parking, open Easter, July and August
- Muñigu car park, open Easter, July, August and until September 15
- Repelao car park, open every day of operation
- Covadonga point of sale, open every day of operation
How much does it cost to go up to the Lakes of Covadonga?
Rates 2024
- Adult bus ticket (round trip, valid all day): €9.
- Bus ticket for children under 12 years old (valid all day): €3,50.
- Bus ticket for children under 3 years old (valid all day): free.
- Bus ticket from Cangas de Onís-Covadonga (one way): €1,55.

Access to Covadonga by bus from Cangas de Onís
The Government of Asturias also launches a shuttle service every half hour to facilitate the connection between Cangas de Onís and the Royal Site of Covadonga. This service will have 26 daily frequencies, with departures every 30 minutes in each direction, from 7:40 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. on departures from Cangas de Onís. Its use is included in the Lagos plan ticket. The rest of the travelers will be able to use the service with the CONECTA card or by purchasing a single ticket.
Can you make the trip to the Lakes with my pet?
Alsa allows travel with animals. When you book your ticket online, you must indicate that you are bringing a pet. In any case it is under the following conditions:
·1· The animal will travel under the responsibility of the owner or person delegated by him, who will go on the same bus.
·2· Maximum one animal per vehicle that will travel in the dedicated compartment in the hold in its own carrier.
·3· Only small pets such as dogs, cats and ferrets weighing less than 10 kg will be admitted.
·4· The animal will travel in a cage, rigid carrier or other closed, rigid and waterproof element provided by the traveler.
·5· The animal must be older than 12 weeks, be identified with a microchip, duly documented (Individual Animal Identity System -SIIA-, Updated Health Card), dewormed externally and internally and vaccinated according to the regulations of origin and destination of transport .
·6· Pregnant females or those with only one week after giving birth are not admitted.
·7· The animal will be able to move on its own and will not have injuries.
·8· On the day of the trip, arrive 15 minutes before departure to personally deposit the rigid carrier on the bus.
·9· Assistance dogs can travel inside the bus, with passengers, at no additional cost. They must be documented.
·10· The transport of animals on international routes is not permitted.
·11· For safety reasons we DO NOT recommend traveling with pets on dates and times when the ambient temperature is higher than 25ºC.
·12· The boarding and disembarkation of the animal will be carried out by its owner, ensuring that there are no people in the vicinity, in order to avoid uncomfortable or dangerous circumstances that could affect the rest of the travelers.
· According to the provisions of the law, the transport of pets will be free as long as the journeys run entirely through the territory of the Principality of Asturias.
* Assistance dogs
·1· Assistance dogs accompanying travelers can travel inside the bus/coach at no cost.
·2· Assistance dogs travel on board and must sit on the floor, at the passenger's feet.
·3· It is mandatory that the assistance dog has its leash and all its necessary documentation for the trip.
