The permanent secretariat of the Child-Friendly Cities Program made public the resolution that recognizes the work of municipalities in favor of the rights of children and adolescents, with the seal of recognition of Child-Friendly Cities for the period from 2021 to 2025. .


In total, 170 are the populations that make up the network of Child Friendly Cities. The Permanent Secretariat of the Child-Friendly Cities Program has also awarded 44 distinctions from the VIII Good Practices Contest, a competition in which exemplary projects or actions in favor of children and adolescents, carried out by local governments and other public and private entities.

This program is promoted by UNICEF Spanish Committee, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the University Institute of Needs and Rights of Children and Adolescents (IUNDIA). The objective is to design and implement effective public policies to improve the welfare of children, defending their rights, encouraging their participation and making cities more livable environments, especially for the youngest.

Seven Asturian municipalities they get the first time stamp of recognition of Child Friendly Cities 2021-2025:
· Cangas del Narcea
Castropol
· Corvera
· Salime Grandas
· Illano
· Llanes
· Pesoz

Eleven municipalities renew the distinction:
· Castrillon
· Coaña
· Gijon
· Degree
· Islands
· Llanera
· Noreña
· Oviedo
· Pravia
· Ribadesella
· Rooms

The Commonwealth of Cangas de Onís, Amieva and Onís also receives it for the first time.
