The 46th Gamonéu Cheese Competition , a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, returns to Benia de Onís on Sunday, October 25 , 2026. This year's Gamonéu Cheese Competition already has its town crier: Jose Antonio Sánchez Campillo, a livestock farmer and cheesemaker from the Onís council.
Gamonéu Awards 2026 : awarded to the shepherd and cheesemaking couple Pilar Amieva Guerra and Enrique Remis Fernández, and to the Vega de Ario and Vegarredonda shelters along with their guards (Ignacio Javier Márquez García and Francisco Javier Malo).
