La Rasa de Berbes Golf Course

La Rasa de Berbes Golf Course

A unique setting

The La Rasa de Berbes Golf Course in Ribadesella could well win the prize for the «Prototype of the Asturian golf course». And this recreational sports space combines several of the most appreciated qualities of the Principality: panoramic views of the Cantabrian Sea and the mountains (Picos de Europa, Cordillera del Sueve).

Desestresante rural spot (the field never registers saturations, which together with the tranquility provided by the landscape makes the game relaxed and you can fully enjoy this sport), an extensive field of Asturian grass surrounded by nature on all four sides, including the unusual presence of wildlife: A family of Gamos has made this environment their most suitable habitat and for years they coexist with the golfers themselves who, in a privileged way, practice this sport a few meters from the cervids without them feeling threatened.

The first phase of the Cubes of Memory was completed in 2001, and today, with their latest restoration, they look absolutely stunning... yes, they have an interpretation linked to the artistic and ethnographic heritage of Llanes. Today (Aitana Castaño) I think of the figure of my grandparents. This is one of the most beautiful photos I have. The date, as you can see, is from the year 1948. In it you can see several neighbors from the parish of Valdellera #Posada #Llanes. The one who is most entangled in a huge beam is my grandparent Juan Balmori Posada. The beam rests on the box of the Villaverde truck. In the background you can see the parish church. #memory #family #grandparents

Today we celebrate International Tour Guide Day. And this year is especially exciting for me, because the small company I founded back in 2006 is turning 20… which is quite a milestone! I took a chance on a profession that was then—and still is—little known, although very visible when you see us on the street, constantly explaining things to groups of people. But what we really do goes far beyond that: we transmit knowledge, local history, ancestral traditions, professionalism, and, above all, a love for the destination. After all this time, I still enjoy every single person I guide. I remain curious, I still ask questions, I still learn. In short, I still love this profession. I love working with and adapting to all kinds of groups, although I confess I have a special fondness for guiding children and our elders. I've diversified with various events and children's workshops, always with the same enthusiasm as the first day. I remain firmly committed to quality service. In fact, I've been certified by SICTED in Llanes for 16 years now, with a constant commitment to improvement and excellence. These 20 years have flown by. We're getting older, yes, but with a wealth of experiences, companions on this journey, and clients to whom I want to express my gratitude, because without them none of this would have been possible. And I'll end with the slogan I chose for this celebration, which sums up what I feel and what I convey every day: 20 years showcasing local roots and history!

The animals, which are at home, are just one example of this unprecedented golf course, one of the most natural on the Peninsula. In fact, the Rasa de Berbes, is already everything an example of environmental sustainability for all Spanish facilities.

After learning about the traditional maintenance and conservation methods carried out by the local club, the Spanish Golf Federation has included it in its list of sustainable courses: it is a course with its own native grasses where no artificial treatment or seeding is practiced; the irrigation system installed on the greens ensures perfect conditions; the natural drainage of the land prevents the course from becoming waterlogged or flooded despite the rains, allowing the game to be played all year round.

Furthermore, the environment of Rasa itself does not do more than grant more environmental excellence, such as the proximity of the Sierra del Sueve (a protected landscape), or the Jurassic coastal strip. One kilometer from the field we find the Entrepeñes gorge and Vega beach, a protected area covering some 37 hectares. Several biological and geological aspects converge in this entire area, making it one of the most environmentally important on the Asturian coast.

From some of the 18 holes of this field, specifically from the 13 hole -which bears the name of Ribadesella- can be reached one of the most amazing panoramic views of the coastal town, and its apparent kindness, a short 3 Pair, allows us to recreate this vision to the pair that we devise our blows.

Terrain, in such an authentic field, could not be more than bumpy and uneven, in line with the Asturian landscape, and shows corners and unsuspected twists and turns, with lagoons and streams included that we have to overcome in our game with daring entrances to Green. The Casigosa u 17 hole is considered the most difficult in the field. Its out of bounds on the right, and its many trees in the street and at the entrance of Green, make getting the pair (4 not too long) is often almost impossible. The cake, the 3 hole, presents an almost impossible output, especially with winds from the northwest, since flying over the row of pines is for many players a real feat.

Information:

The Club de Golf Rasa de Berbes currently has more paid families with 200 and still has a greater number of licenses.
The land is municipal property, although the management of the field is in the hands of the club, a collective created in the year 1990 by a small group of lovers of this sport, led by D. Luís Estévez Fernández, who at 1994 saw their efforts rewarded when the first holes of the field were inaugurated.
GPS Coordinates: Latitude: 43.466376º Longitude: -5.143533º.

Location: The facilities are located in the town of Berbes at 10 Km from Ribadesella, accessing them by the Ribadesella - Gijón National Road, 11,5 kilometer point. If you access from the Cantabrian motorway, the nearest exit is the number 337 Caravia-Berbes, which is about 3 Km from the Club.

The field is at 50 kilometers from Gijón. 70 of Oviedo. 130 of Santander and 30 of Llanes. Airport: 95 Km. Railway Station FEVE to 10 Km.
