One of the most photographed neighborhoods is El Palacio , home to two distinctive towers. The most important is the circular one, which displays the coat of arms of the Tuñón, Miranda, and Bandujo families. El Campal, La Molina, Entelaiglesia, La Reguera, and El Toral are its other neighborhoods. The Church of Santa María is also noteworthy, as are the numerous granaries and raised granaries , not to mention the washhouse, the mill, and the equally charming cemetery , perched on a hill overlooking El Palacio.
Banduxu can also be reached on foot . The hiking trail begins after passing Proaza and Caranga Baxu on the main road and turning off towards San Martín de Teberga. At kilometer 21, there's a parking area by the roadside. To start the hike, enter the Senda del Oso (Bear's Trail) after crossing the bridge. The three-kilometer climb takes you through a forest and a small gorge carved by the Regueirín River. There are rocky sections where, when wet, it's easy to slip; therefore, proper equipment and footwear are essential. The most challenging part, also entirely rocky, is a very steep, zigzagging ascent of about 700 meters, which can be quite winding for those in poor physical condition, but you'll make it. Take it easy.
How to go to Bandujo?
Take the AS-228 , which leads to the Trubia Valleys, Santo Adriano, and Proaza. After crossing Proaza in the direction of Quirós and Teverga, and just at the exit, on the right, you'll see the sign for Banduxu, along a small road that climbs uphill and passes through Proacina before reaching our destination.
