Oviedo in the Pilgrimages
On Saturday, July 2, we discovered the importance of Oviedo in the pilgrimages to Santiago, in a new route of the Itineraries through Heritage programme. We begin in the pre-Romanesque church of Santuyano, in which its interior paintings stand out, and we will see the exteriors of the Weapons Factory, where the monastery of Santa María de La Vega was located. We will visit the Foncalada Fountain and the Cathedral of El Salvador, 1.200 years after the start of its construction. We will follow in the footsteps of King Alfonso II, the first pilgrim to Compostela, walking part of the Primitive Way, looking out over the Gallegos Bridge (Las Regueras) and approaching the exterior of the Naranco monuments.
