This year, 2025, Asturias Day will be celebrated in the Cider Region, which will host the commemorative events. Between 5 and 8 September, the councils of Nava, Villaviciosa, Colunga, Bimenes, Cabranes y Sariego will be filled with music, culture and tradition in days that reflect the best of our collective identity and will exalt cider culture after its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco
Over four days, the program will combine traditional markets, craft and food showcases, exhibitions of native sports and games, children's activities, and street performances. There will also be space for local groups and cultural associations to contribute their creativity and dedication to an event that unites all of Asturias each year.
The region's historical and natural heritage will also play a leading role, with guided tours, workshops, and activities for all audiences, in a program designed for families and open to residents and visitors.
September 5th in Sariego
In Sariego, on September 5th, there will be a traditional sports exhibition in Vega and a parade led by the Bandina L'Emboláu. In Narzana, the public will enjoy dramatized tours and musical performances by Amaia Rey and the Errante Choir at the Cueva de San Pedrin. Visitors can also visit the Trabanco Cider Mill and the Finca Maeza Stud Farm, and there will be a cider festival with a tasting of traditional products. Closing the activities in Sariego will be a concert by Los Berrones and the Grupo Límite Orchestra.
September 6th in Colunga
Visitors will have free admission to the Jurassic Museum of Asturias (MUJA), and there will be special activities throughout the day, such as a visit to the ichnite site at La Griega beach in collaboration with the Sueve Interpretation Center, a Dinosidrera Treasure Hunt, and an apple mayáu workshop, among other activities. There will be a parade with the Bandina L'Emboláu, the Cider exhibition at the Casa de Cultura, and a Petit Pop concert in the Plaza de la Iglesia de San Cristóbal.
September 6th in Villaviciosa
The village of Maliaya will be filled with the music of the bagpipe bands participating in the International Bagpipe Festival, and the Pelambre Park will host the festival market. There will also be an open house at the El Gaitero and Cortina cider mills, with an animated cider train.
You can enjoy concerts by bagpiper Hevia and young Asturian singer Eva Hevia. In addition, in collaboration with the International Bagpipe Festival, there will be performances by Malin Lewis, Felpeyu, and Skama La Rede, as well as a drone show.
September 7th in Cabranes
You can visit the traditional market in Santolaya's Plaza del Emigrante and the exhibition at the Cultural Center. There will be games for children and several tastings: organic cider and juice, rice pudding and boroña, as well as a cider tasting with Tano Collado.
Simultaneous chess games, a demonstration of traditional Cabranes costumes, tethered hot-air balloon flights, and, throughout the day, free admission to the Rural School Museum in Viñón. Musical accompaniment will include a parade by Hermanos Joglar and a vermouth concert by Los Acebos.
September 7th in Bimenes
Open house and theatrical entertainment at the Marqués de Casa Estrada Palace. Los Yerbatos and La Pandorga will provide the musical and folklore entertainment in the Palace's meadow, where there will also be Asturian songs and a Valtu wrestling exhibition, as well as a tasting and live production of chorizo in cider. The activities in Bimenes conclude with a concert by the Dominó Orchestra.
September 8th in Nava
The Cider Museum will offer free admission to all visitors, who will also be able to enjoy Asturian songs, a traditional atmosphere in the surroundings of the museum, a cider masterclass, and a cider tasting with José Norniella. A market and traditional games for children will also be offered, as well as captive hot-air balloon flights, a cider train with entertainment through the town, and a parade by the Llariegu Bagpipe Band.
The Church of San Bartolomé will host a meeting with the choirs of the Cider Region, and in Plaza Manuel Uria, you can watch a vermouth session by Querida Margot and a concert by the Tekila Orchestra.
Santina Day 2025 in Covadonga
11:00 a.m. The image of the Virgin of Covadonga comes out of Lake Enol, where it remains all year round, with the help of a group of divers from the Federation of Underwater Activities of the Principality of Asturias (FASPA).
12:00 p.m. Mass in the Basilica of Covadonga, followed by the procession to the Holy Cave together with a group of bagpipes.
19:00 p.m. In the afternoon, the party moves to the streets of Cangas de Onís, with music and festivals.
