The early Asturian communities in the Eneolithic cultural stage built great funerary monuments, the dolmens. Examples of this type of burial are: Merillés dolmen in Tineo, the Santa Cruz in Cangas de Onís, the one in Pradías in Ibias ...
Already in the Bronze Age, there is a fundamental change in the funerary rite, passing to the incineration of the tumular necropolises. We are in the period of fields of tumuli, like that of the Sierra Plana de la Borbolla in Llanes or the one in Sierra de Penouta in Boal. Asturias has other archaeological sites belonging to the Bronze Age, such as the Idolo de Peña Tú in Llanes.
