Date: April 18, 2026
We will visit the Radio Museum in Bimenes to learn about the history of radio through an interesting collection of gramophones, record players, microphones, records, and more. Before lunch, we will hike part of the Mills Route, and in the afternoon we will visit Santuyano/San Julián and Martimporra, the council's capital, which boasts interesting buildings such as the Martimporra Palace, the Town Hall, and the Trade Union Building.
Route through Sariego
Date: May 16 of 2026
We'll begin by visiting the Cave and Chapel of San Pedrín, walking from Castañeda on a short, easy route (2 km round trip). This cave, inhabited since Paleolithic times, is steeped in legends of xanas (water nymphs) who enchanted shepherds. A well-known festival is celebrated here, famous for its procession, in which the saint's image is carried from the chapel to a natural cave, where Mass is celebrated in Asturian. We'll also visit Santa María de Narzana, a Romanesque church dating from the late 12th century, and, after lunch, the Church of Santiago de Sariego, which preserves three pre-Romanesque windows high in its walls.
Route through Nava
Date: June 6, 2026
In Nava, we'll visit one of Asturias' most unique museums, the only one dedicated to the region's quintessential beverage: the Cider Museum. There, we'll see the cider-making process, from apple cultivation to bottling, as well as the traditions and social customs surrounding its consumption. We'll stroll through Nava, the undisputed cider capital, and then visit the picturesque village of Ceceda/Cecea, renowned for its traditional architecture, including 16th-century granaries, Asturian manor houses, and colonial-style villas.
Route through Colunga
Date: June 20, 2026
An itinerary through another cider-producing region, Colunga. We'll begin at the Jurassic Museum of Asturias, where we'll learn more about the large reptiles that lived in Asturias millions of years ago. Immediately afterward, we'll take a short walk to the dinosaur footprints on La Griega Beach. We'll see the most traditional cider-making process at the family-run Sidra Crespo cider house and finish the itinerary in Llastres, one of the most beautiful fishing villages and ports in Asturias.
