Activities for children at the Laboral, Gijón
[1]· Cooking science
- Saturday, April 18, 2026, 17:00 PM. Meeting point: Laboral Reception.
We'll read, we'll talk, and we'll swap our white coats for kitchen aprons. Using everyday ingredients that everyone has at home, we'll put the laws of physics and chemistry to the test. We'll decode the world around us to try to understand and improve it, in this activity combining reading and scientific experimentation.
Taught by: Eugenia Valdés Fernández. A Chemistry graduate with 24 years of teaching experience, her approach combines an experimental and playful method to teach scientific concepts from an early age. She leads science workshops for children, aiming to spark their curiosity about the world around them. Her love of books and her boundless energy have shaped these interdisciplinary projects that unite literature and science to inspire new generations.

Nina goes up to the attic. What is she looking for? Or are memories searching for her within her? Toys from her childhood, her breakfast cup, her grandmother's apron… Songs, smells, games, adventures flood her memory…
When Nina was very little, something happened to her grandmother.
– Grandma has gone on a trip… very far away…– her mother told her.

Nina will relive that journey, a journey to understand what absence is… a journey in search of the greatest treasure…
