    Here we share the agenda of the events organized in Cabrales to celebrate the most famous cheese competition in Asturias.

    The big day is the Sunday 25 August.The contest is a declared event Regional Tourist Interest. From 10 in the morning and throughout the day, in addition to the cheese contest itself, there will be exhibitions, tastings, sales of Asturian products, a parade of folkloric groups and much more.

    An attempt will be made to break a new Guinness World Record, which would be the fourth achieved in the traditional bid. It was achieved in 2018 (when 14.300 euros were paid for a cheese), 2019 (20.500 euros) and last year, setting the mark to beat of 30.000 euros.

    The next August 23 and 24 at 19:30 p.m., within the events of the 52nd Cabrales Cheese Contest, will be screened in the Arenas Public Park the documentary “Cabrales, el quesu”, a documentary audiovisual piece by Pau de la Sierra, created to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Contest.

    The documentary that has spectacular images, some from a drone view by Cabrales native Pedro Fernández Rodriguez and with original music composed by Lisa Bause, talks about the history and experiences of the shepherds, ranchers and cheese makers of Cabrales, those who were there and those who who are, in addition to people linked to our council intervening.

    We entered different cheese factories, caves, livestock farms, addressed the work of the Regulatory Council and analyzed the importance of the Contest from its creation to the present day. We also remember the testimony of the shepherds who dedicated their entire lives to making cheese just as their parents and grandparents did, and we give a brief review of the prestige of cheese through the testimony of renowned chefs.
