It is the only airport in Asturias with regular passenger service and is located 15 km from the city of Avilés, 40 km from Gijón and 47 km from Oviedo, the capital of the Principality. The airport was opened on June 11, 1968The first flight was made on Saturday, June 15 at 8:30 a.m. by a Fokker F27 belonging to Iberia LAE, which connected the new terminal with Madrid-Barajas Airport.
How to get to Asturias Airport by bus
The Alsa company covers the route between the airport and the cities of Avilés, Gijón and Oviedo. Services to Avilés and Gijón also stop in Piedras Blancas and Salinas.
Daily departures from the airport between 6:00 AM and midnight, approximately every hour. Check the exact schedules on the ALSA website or by calling their information line.
These times can be delayed up to 15 minutes if, at the time indicated for departure, a flight with arrival information appears on the information panels.
