• “A Little Story” with Héctor Alterio

Date: Friday, November 14, 2025 at 19:30 p.m.
Venue: Philharmonic Theatre.

Based on a short story, a round trip from Buenos Aires to Madrid and back, Héctor Alterio brings back memories of those years through poetry, music, and emotion. Between love and humor, an evening of pure sensory delight unfolds, guided by the actor whose unique voice resonates deeply, and the soulful music of Juan Esteban Cuacci.

· Orlando Furious

Location: Campoamor Theatre.

Orlando Furioso by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) premiered at the Teatro Sant'Angelo in Venice in 1727. This dramma per musica with libretto by Grazio Braccioli is inspired by the masterpiece of chivalric literature that has its roots in the Middle Ages, Orlando Furioso (1532) by Ludovico Ariosto.

· JJ Vaquero

JJ Vaquero, in his show Vaquero, does what Vaquero usually does. If you know him, you know what we're talking about, and if you don't... well, now you know something new. JJ Vaquero (by the way, that's his name, not his profession) is an actor, comedian, and screenwriter born in a strange place between Valladolid and Pucela in 1973.

· Alfonso Candelas Painting Exhibition

· Exhibition "Eduardo Chillida. The Presence of Emptiness"

Date: from September 25 to December 14 of 2025.
Location: Sabadell Herrero Exhibition Hall (C/ Suárez de la Riva, 4).

It explores the various series of the graphic work of this genius from San Sebastián, as well as some of his small-format sculptures and his collaborations in artist's books, paying attention to the use of different materials with which he tirelessly experimented during his fruitful output, always with the honesty that characterized him during his lifetime, full of the mysticism and personal aesthetic that he imprinted on all his works.

What to do in Gijón this weekend?

· Igor Medio Ambás, Pepín de Muñalén and Vero Rubio Chamber Folk Cycle

Date: Friday November 14 2025 at 19:30 am.
Location: Jovellanos Birthplace Museum.

The repertoire of this work with Vero Rubio and Pepín de Muñalén follows the philosophy of the Tuenda group, in which ATOAM provides materials that, in many cases previously unpublished, are the fruit of their valuable fieldwork. A repertoire varied linguistically, geographically, and thematically. It is a novel undertaking in which Ambás and Pepín, old colleagues of Tuenda, join Vero's brilliant work on the piano. A gathering that will take place at the Casa Natal this November. Free admission until full capacity is reached.

• Music. Concert by the group Magnus

Date: Saturday November 15 2025 at 19:00 am.
Location: El Llano Integrated Municipal Center.

Magnus, an Asturian progressive rock band with melodic rock influences, will be performing in Gijón. Their sound ranges from Riverside and Porcupine Tree to Camel, Yes, and Dream Theater. They will be playing a set of covers in this style as well as original songs.

· Terranauts

Notes for a new world map.
Dates: from April 16, 2025 to November 15 2025.
Location: Labor Art Center.

Notes for a New Map of the World presents a selection of works resulting from LABoral Centro de Arte's CRA 2024 artist residency program, in which more than 20 Asturian artists or those residing in Asturias participated.

The exhibition takes its title from the novel of the same name by TC Boyle (2016), in which the author fictionalizes the story of a real-life team of scientists who faced living in a closed biosphere in order to understand the functioning of different ecosystems on Earth and investigate the feasibility of creating environments for potential space colonization on other planets. The experiment aimed to clarify doubts about an uncertain future and demonstrate that the survival of a small, isolated group is possible, even under adverse conditions.

What to do in Avilés this weekend?

· The Dome Sounds. Matrice Quartet

Date: Sunday November 16 2025 at 12:00 am.
Location: Dome of the Niemeyer Center.

Cuarteto Matrice was formed in 2016 in Madrid, a place where its members met and developed. With a focus on outreach, they aim to share their music with the public through a thematic thread and by presenting their own concerts.

Ecos de Latitud is the result of the 2024-2025 Artistic Residency that the Matrice Quartet has carried out with Le Dimore del Quartetto, as it is part of the MERITA network promoted by the European Union.

• Art and Spirituality. Imagining the extraordinary in the BBVA Collection

Date: from October 10, 2025 to March 1, 2026.
Location: Niemeyer Center.

The Niemeyer Center's Dome hosts the exhibition Art and Spirituality. Imagining the Extraordinary in the BBVA Collection, organized by the Niemeyer Center and BBVA and curated by Alfonso de la Torre, which brings together a carefully curated selection of historical and contemporary works from the BBVA Collection in Spain.

· Colita. Art and part

Date: from June 25 to January 11 2026.
Location: Niemeyer Center.

The Niemeyer Center is hosting a unique exhibition on Catalan photographer Colita, which will review her relationship with art over more than forty years, curated by Francesc Polop, director and heir of the Colita Photography Archive. It will be on view from June 25 to January 11, 2026, in the Photography Gallery. Colita (August 24, 1940 – December 31, 2023) systematically photographed everything that happened around her—sharing unique moments, events, artistic performances, presentations, exhibitions, film shoots, and concerts—defining herself above all as a photojournalist and “unrepentantly curious.”

• Cinema. “The Hidden Gaze”

Location: Tito Bustillo Cave Art Centre. Ribadesella.

The Tito Bustillo Cave Art Center is once again hosting the National Film and Rural Women Series, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The series opens with a screening of the documentary *The Hidden Gaze* (2023), directed by Carlota Nelson. This film follows photographer Cristina García Rodero on her life and creative journey, showcasing her work across diverse cultures and her reflections on photography. It also revisits her emblematic project *Hidden Spain*, in which she documented traditional festivals in rural Spain for 15 years. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the director, Carlota Nelson, who will be present. Additionally, the Eastern Asturias Rural Women's Feminist Collective will lead the workshop *Hidden Women*, where participants can bring old photographs to share the stories behind the women in their families. Space is limited to 60 people. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

• Exhibition «Songs of love for the homeland»

Date: From Monday, November 3rd to November 21st of 2025.
Location: Assembly hall of the El Franco Town Hall.

The exhibition consists of a series of engravings by various Asturian artists that masterfully illustrate ten beautiful poems by the Asturian poet José María García García.

· Family workshop: Cooking with seasonal produce

Date: Sunday November 16 from 2025 From 11:30 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.
Location: Atlantic Botanical Garden of Gijón.

Ages 6 and up. Maximum 2 accompanying adults per child. Individual registration is required for all participants (adults and children).
Autumn arrives, and the Asturian vegetable garden offers us a rich menu of produce grown by Pilar herself, including zucchini spaghetti with mushrooms, sauteed vegetable fajitas with cheese, and delicious pumpkin fritters. We'll take everything we cook home. Price: €6 (€5,10 for children who are members of the Miruéndanos Club).

Activities at the Tito Bustillo Rock Art Center, Ribadesella
