Do you know who Dionisio de la Huerta was? He was the creator of the famous Sella International Descent and our main guarantor, when we have transformed it into a tourist attraction, so that you can enjoy an unforgettable day, emulating the canoeists who every year they participate in it.
In this test our monitors take part accumulating already four absolute victories, and finishing in more than fifteen occasions among the five first positions.
With this background, knowledge of the environment and quality in the service, we invite you to participate in an adventure in close contact with nature, for which you do not need any experience or special preparation.
The activity takes place in the section between Arriondas and Ribadesella and you have the option of choosing, before leaving or during the journey, between three different stopping points: in Torañu (6 km.), Llordón (10 km) (novelty) and Llovio (14 km).
The boats used are one, two and three seater, kayaks and canoes.
The participants are equipped with life jacket and on days of low temperatures, with isothermal neoprene suits. After each use, the personal equipment is washed and disinfected in our laundry, within the line of maximum quality, guaranteed by the School.
There is the possibility of making the descents with or without a guide-monitor. In descents without a monitor, some instructions are always given for the correct handling of the boats.
The activity can be developed by a person individually or in groups. The possibility of offers for large groups, up to 400 people.
A watertight drum is carried on each boat, where participants have a snack for their consumption on the way.
The boats that are used are very stable and unsinkable, so no previous experience is necessary.
Participants should only be provided with a T-shirt, swimsuit, slippers (no flip flops), towel and sunscreen.
It is compulsory to practice, knowing how to swim, at least 50 m. Although the risk of accident is zero, all participants are insured through civil liability insurance and other health insurance.
At the end of the journey the vehicles of the School, will pick up the participants and will lead them to the departure point.
The descents can be made without a time limit, being the average used of some 3 or 4 hours for the journey to Llovio, 2 or 3 to Llordón and 1,30 or 2 hours to Toraño.
